The Moundsville Pharmacy Approach

Despite the complex actions, reactions, and interactions of hormones in the body, the principles behind hormone replacement therapy should be relatively simple.  In making recommendations, Moundsville Pharmacy obeys the following three principles:

1.  EVALUATION:  No hormones should be replaced until the hormones have determined to need replacement.  While symptoms are critical in guiding therapy, symptoms alone can be misleading in initiating replacement. 

2.  BIO-IDENTICAL REPLACEMENT: When replacing hormones in the body, the hormones for replacement should be the same as those which have been produced by the body for an entire lifetime (bio-identical or "natural"). 

3.  APPROPRIATE DOSING: Hormones should be replaced at lower doses to correct imbalances and to restore hormones to their natural level, rather than treat the patient with un-naturally higher hormone doses. 

Three principles to successful outcomes!

This approach leads to a very individualized regimen of hormone replacement therapy for every patient, requiring regular follow-up with the managing physician or consulting pharmacist, a commitment to regaining hormone balance by both the patient to the therapy and the practitioner the patient, and a desire to learn more about the therapy by both the patient and the practitioner.

Moundsville Pharmacy provides patients with an individual and educational approach through Educational Seminars and Individual Consults.  We strongly believe that by empowering the patient with information about hormones, menopause, and therapeutic options, the patients will be more prepared to react to symptoms appropriately and make positive therapeutic decisions for their future. 

Moundsville Pharmacy believes that all patients should undergo some form of hormone testing to determine if and which hormone imbalances are occurring prior to beginning replacement therapy.  Saliva testing offers some distinct advantages over other forms of testing allowing for more confident recommendations.

Our knowledge and experience allows us to work directly with patients and physicians to encourage successful outcomes.  Moundsville Pharmacy conducts monthly follow-ups until patients are experiencing successful results, followed by routine follow-ups thereafter.
